Welcome to Durham. I’m glad you love your home and I’m sure you’ll love the community. Spread the word. I don’t usually use this blog to promote other agents (they’re competition afterall) but since you had a great experience, I’ll leave the plug in your comments. Luckily, the Durham market has not been hit like some other markets have. I just read a report that it is the #20 best housing market in the US! I’m excited to say I just bought a house in Durham and it is absolutely my dream home! I love it and I wouldn’t have found it without the help of my realtor. I have had problems with realtors in the past; who you use really can make all the difference. I’ll leave her email in case anyone is interested: waltersk@hpw.com
Has anyone else had any good luck in real estate lately? I know I bought my house with a little bit of instant equity, but I hope to never sell it, so I don’t think I’ll be taking advantage of that except for in my own enjoyment.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Twitter! When using your DurhamLuxRE Twitter account for shooting out “links”, I suggest a couple of ideas:

First, always try to contribute more to the conversation on Twitter and not just use it for content distribution. For many Tweeple on Twitter it can look a little “spammy” to do nothing but shotgun out links.

Second, when you do distribute links try doing it with Budurl.com. That way you can track how many times a link gets a “click”.

Third, to organize and follow the conversation easier use Tweetdeck.

Forth, if you’re not getting “spammed” on Twitter, hang on. The more followers you get the more DM’s (direct messages) “spam” you will receive.

Fifth, to make Twitter truly “social” and a component of your online presence, you’ll need to open up the direct message capability of Twitter. It’s the good and the bad of Twitter. By having the DM functionality “activated”, other “Tweeple” can DM me and know I will respond. Those who abuse DM get blocked.

Used properly, Twitter can help you listen to what consumers are saying about Durham luxury real estate and help you connect with them.
